Saved items and preferences

Saved systems are stored in your browser’s localStorage under hurricaneagent.saved.v1. Each reference contains the system’s identifier, name, delivery mode and advisory issue time. The saved-items format can also retain location names and coordinates saved by an earlier version; the current interface does not offer location editing.

The app does not upload these saved items. Removing a system updates this browser’s storage. You can clear the full saved-items entry through your browser’s site-data controls. Export saved items downloads a file that may include retained location entries.

The selected system, map position, live or replay mode, and time-display preference stay in page memory and reset when the page reloads. They are not saved as persistent preferences. The app reads your browser’s time zone to offer a local-time display.

Requests to this site

Opening pages, loading map data and retrieving advisories sends requests to this site’s host. Those requests can involve metadata such as an IP address, browser information, requested path and request time. This page does not specify the host’s logging settings or retention periods.

The app’s server retrieves official NHC data. Switching between live and historical replay, or refreshing the feed, sends the requested mode and refresh option to the app’s data endpoint. Saved system names and stored coordinates are not included in those feed requests.

No advertising or analytics scripts have been added to this app currently.
