About HurricaneAgent

An independent viewer for official tropical cyclone advisories from NOAA / National Hurricane Center. HurricaneAgent is not affiliated with or endorsed by NOAA.

Start with a system and its advisory

Choose a system in the explorer, then check its classification, maximum sustained wind, minimum pressure and advisory issue time. Open the prominent official advisory link for the full source, including any warnings.

Live mode shows the returned NHC feed. No active systems is a valid result for the supported coverage. A retrieval failure is labeled unavailable or, when available, shown as an older snapshot with its original dates. Historical replay is a separate view of Milton’s advisory from 2024-10-10 03:00 UTC.

Inspect positions and their times

Select a point on the map or open the forecast positions list and choose a row. The selected position shows its coordinates and time. The list offers the same positions with keyboard controls.

The advisory center and forecast centers have different markers. A forecast’s valid time is when that position is forecast to apply; its issue time is when the advisory was issued. Check the track’s own advisory number and time when inspecting it alongside the latest advisory: products can update separately.

This helps you compare the positions, valid times and supplied wind values within one advisory. Forecast points and their connecting line are not an uncertainty cone, a warning boundary or the full area affected by hazards. Source details explain missing fields and product differences; a previous-advisory comparison is not currently available.

Know the coverage

The connected feed covers the Atlantic and eastern North Pacific, with Central Pacific products only when supplied by the official feed. It does not cover every tropical cyclone warning agency or provide a global view of warnings.

The map uses generalized Natural Earth geography. Small islands and boundaries may be absent. Read the NHC’s description of its responsibilities for jurisdiction details.

Use official instructions for decisions

Check official advisories and warnings and follow emergency instructions from the authorities responsible for your area. This viewer does not assess hazards for your location or tell you whether to evacuate or travel.

Saving a system creates a reference in this browser. It does not store its advisory or provide notifications or background monitoring. Downloaded briefings summarize source facts using fixed templates.
